Cause Philanthropub

I passed by Cause last week and was please to see it had opened. I have commented onthis before but I am not sure how successful a pub can be “Drinking for a Cause” Restaurant work is too hard not to work for a profit or reward. I wish them luck.

From Borderstan: Friday

Celebrate barely surviving your first full week back from vacation at Cause Philanthropub’s 5-5-5-5 happy hour from 4 to 7 pm, where draft beers, select bites, featured cocktails and wine are just $5 (even better: 100% of Cause’s profits go to deserving charities, so don’t be a teetotaler!) If you’re still hungry, walk a mere 20 yards across the street to grab dinner at 1905, which just rolled out a some new, sure-to-be-delicious menu offerings like pork belly with black eyed peas and braised beef cheek with fried yucca.

  1. Hey – I just wanted to alert you to a cool new event that Cause is doing starting this Sunday – Cause Conversations, hosted by Wandering Minds (www.WanderingMindsSociety.com)

These will be modern “salon-style” conversation-based events that bring smart, interesting, and curious people together to discuss, explore, and chew on all sorts of random topics – from the absurd to the deeply meaningful, and everything in between.

The debut conversation is being held on Sun, Jan 27th, 6pm, at Cause, and is entitled: “War in the age of Twitter: Would the Civil War happen today?” It will be lead by Civil War expert Aaron Killian, founder of Civil War Battlefield Tours, and participants will be discussing the Civil War and the effects that losing 2% of our population (that’s the modern equivalent of DC times ten!) had – and continues to have – on our society. The conversation will also explore whether or not there could ever arise a situation in which modern America would tolerate such carnage.

    Sunday, January 27th
    6 – 8pm
Cause, the Philanthropub – 1926 9th Street NW (near corner of 9th & U Streets)
    Tickets: $5 Early Bird, $9 Advance, $12 At-the-Door (assuming there’s room left)

Learning + Drinking + Meeting smart people = Awesome!
